SALISBURY, Md. – This weekend more than a hundred businesses from across the shore came together for the 55th Annual Better Living Expo.
The event took place at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center.
This expo is the Optimist Club of Salisbury’s biggest fundraiser. Thousands of dollars in proceeds are collected to help kids across the Eastern Shore.
Organizers say this money helps fund the club’s programs and scholarships for high school seniors.
They add the event is also a chance for local business owners to make critical connections.
“Many of the businesses, almost all of them, are locally-owned,” said Mike DeFiore, event chairperson.
“So, when you come out to an event like this, you get a chance to talk to a local professional and hopefully purchase their goods and their services, and you’re giving right back to Delmarva,” said DeFiore, “So, we’re keeping all the money here on the Eastern Shore.”
DeFiore says the Salisbury Optimist Club is already planning for next year’s Better Living Expo, which is set to kick off on February 27th.
