Blue Cross Blue Shield grants $5,000 to Lyon County Public Health for response effort

Lyon County Public Health’s COVID-19 response efforts have gotten a financial boost from a state insurance company.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas, an independent licensee of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, has granted $5,000 to Public Health. The donation is part of a $200,000 donation to local health departments across the state and the Kansas Association of Local Health Departments.

Details about how Public Health plans to use the funds have not been released.

The grant program is the latest in a series of coronavirus grants and other donations through Blue Cross Blue Shield totaling over $570,000 for healthcare, higher education, small businesses, domestic violence organizations, food and child care.

Lyon County Health Officer Renee Hively and Emergency Management Director Jarrod Fell will have more about the local COVID-19 response during Monday’s 7:15 am newsmaker segment on KVOE and KVOE.com.
