Delores Ann Brown of Williamstown passed away July 29th at her home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Stewart and Lola Pattison, and her brother Charles Pattison all of Cambridge, Ohio as well as her husband, Richard Curtis Brown and her beloved son, Steven Curtis Brown. She is survived by her daughter, Rita (Don) Smith, grandsons, Brian and Scott, her great grandchildren, Landon and Naomi and their mother, Kayla Smith, her brother, Roger (Nancy) Pattison of New Concord, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.
She was a wonderful homemaker who cooked delicious meals and desserts, sewed our clothes, knitted our sweaters and quilted our blankets. In her spare time, she gardened and practiced a variety of needle arts including needlepoint and tatting, worked crossword puzzles and was unbeatable at Scrabble and Rummy.
She moved to Williamstown in 2002 after her husband’s death to be closer to her family. She loved helping her family in any way she could and her most cherished moments were babysitting for her great grandchildren.
She was a past Deacon of the Williamstown Presbyterian Church, past secretary for the Williamstown Women’s Club and past secretary for the Williamstown Senior Center. She enjoyed making various crafts and quilts to support the Women’s Club with their annual sale and helping with the yearly soup sale at the church.
Due to COVID-19, there will not be a service. We think that Delores would be fine with that as she liked to work behind the scenes and did not enjoy being in the limelight.
Graveside services will be held 12 pm Monday August 3, 2020, at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge, Ohio, with Pastor Elizabeth Campbell-Maleke officiating.
We wish to thank Dr. Kelli Cawley and the staff of the Strecker Center for their excellent care, and Marcia Westbrook and Kim Anderson for their in-home care, love and support.
The family requests that anyone wishing to make a donation to please support the First Presbyterian Church Williamstown, 314 W 5th St. Williamstown, WV 26187, or the Williamstown Fund for Excellence, which provides financial support to non-profits, churches and schools in the Williamstown/Waverly area, c/o PACF, PO Box 1762, Parkersburg, WV, 26102 or directly online at: www.pacfwv.com/donate/williamstown-fund.
