Wimer Stadium Bleachers Coming Down | News, Sports, Jobs

The old visitors’ side of the football field bleachers at Elkins High School’s Wimer Stadium is now a mound of rubble as workers tore down the concrete and steel structure over the weekend. In response to the stadium being deemed ‘unsafe’ for spectators, the Randolph County Board of Education voted to demolish the standing bleachers. The schedules of both the Elkins High School and Elkins Middle School football teams had to be rearranged, and neither team was able to play any games at Wimer Stadium this fall.
